Ayers We are not supposed to be teaching English, we are
supposed to be creating an environment where learning can take
place. Proprietario, London |

Charles My
specialty area of teaching is Business English and Career
Enhancement. I've had an association with Tuscany for more than 15
years, and now after a long career (I won't tell you how many years)
in the financial sector, in the UK and all over the world, it's a
refreshing and fulfilling change to put down roots and be living
here full-time in my home in Livorno. I don't mind the wine in this
part of the world either ... Managing Director and Teacher,

Rossella I've worked at the
school since 1997 and although I'm a born and bred Pisana, I'm also
a complete anglophile with a deep love of Britain and its culture.
Many years ago I met, by chance, some lovely English people who were
visiting Pisa. In turn, I started visiting their home and it was
from then that my association with the "world of English" began. One
of the great joys of my role is accompanying students on the annual
British School trip to the UK. Cambridge ESOL Exam

Laura Hi,
I'm Laura from Viareggio. I was terrible at English when I was at
school and my teachers had lost all hope in me. Then, at the age of
12, I started playing the guitar ... and discovered The Beatles.
BANG! Love at first sight ... or sound. Learning the lyrics, looking
up the words I didn't know - that's how I discovered that English
isn't that impossible after all! Director,
Viareggio |

Ivano I was
born in Los Angeles but have lived in Italy since 1992 and now I
couldn't think of living anywhere else. I studied at Lucca
University from where I graduated with a Masters in Political
Science. In my younger days I was a keen cross-country runner so
developed stamina which now stands me in good stead for teaching!

Adrian When
I grow up I would like to be a Renaissance man. Until then I am a
Jack of all trades: as well as teaching English, I teach acting and
yoga. My avatars, in no particular order, are actor, dancer,
improviser, teacher, croupier and director. My less honed skills
include playing the flute, clowning and scone-making. I also like to
carelessly split infinitives! I have lived on two continents and one
island and Italy is the fifth country that I have called home.

Ray Growing
up in Derry, Ireland, I used to play all kinds of sport, such as
rugby, golf and football, as well as taking to the slopes with my
snowboard, but sadly these days I only seem to have time for the
occasional football match. I'm a keen reader, especially of the
classic authors such as Joyce, Keats, Hemingway and Bulowski. I've
been living in Italy since 2005 and much as I love the food, the
wine, the culture and the weather here, there are a couple of things
I really miss about Ireland; namely bacon, sausages and of course
Guinness. Teacher, Ireland |
 |
Isabel I'm
Isabel and I live in Viareggio but I actually come from South
London. I enjoy riding my old rusty bike and I love the performing
arts, particularly ballet. Teacher, London |
 |
David My
first love is acting and I've been lucky enough to travel all over
the world performing. My specialty is Shakespeare but in my time
I've also been a croupier, TV scriptwriter, personal trainer and a
trapeze artist. I'm now happy to keep my feet firmly on the ground
and have found a happy combination of teaching and acting. I've
taken to life in Italy with gusto and have developed my culinary
skills, with my specialty being homemade ravioli with pumpkin.

Simon Hi I’m
Simon,a Villa fan from Exeter. I live in Viareggio with my foxy
wife. Teacher, Exeter |
 |
Thomas I’m a
Londoner who has been living in Italy for five years and I love it
here. In my spare time I like making music and riding my bike in the
hills. I'm also partial to a nice glass of Morellino di Scansano
with a slice of pecorino. Teacher, London |
 |
Leigh-Anne I was born and
raised in South Africa but am now living in Lucca. I've been here
since 1994 and in that time one of the most important things I've
learnt is that a smile and a laugh is just the thing to make your
day. So smile! Teacher, Johannesburg |
 |
David I grew up in Scotland,
just outside of Glasgow but my mother's family comes from La Spezia
so I've always had a close connection with Italy and in fact support
Inter rather than a Scottish team! I'm an avid reader, especially of
Hemingway, and also a great fan of good wine. Teacher,
Scotland |
 |
Marcela I
love foreign languages and sightseeing especially in the wonderful
hills around Lucca. Teacher, Argentina |
 |
Christine I'm a Londoner, but
have been living in Tuscany since 2005 with my young daughter who
speaks Italian with an impeccable Italian accent. Much as I love
London, it's hard to imagine living there again, as by now I am
completely used to the gentler pace of life in the village outside
Pisa where I live. Mind you, it's always a pleasure to return to the
UK for a few days to catch up friends, family and indulge in a spot
of shopping! Resource Coordinator, London |

ora, I'm from New Zealand - also known as Aotearoa (The Land of the
Long White Cloud) - but I have lived overseas for seven years and
now happily call Italy home. I adore all things Italian but
especially my husband! Teacher, New Zealand |

Federico Viareggino DOC di
anima e cuore, ma da sempre con la passione per l'Inghilterra e per
tutto cio' che essa rappresenta, amo la sonorità della lingua, la
musica inglese e le persone che popolano quella meravigliosa terra
... e ovviamente adoro Londra! Lavorare alla British School mi
rimanda a quel mondo lontano, facendomi percepire emozioni come
fossi quotidianamente in Inghilterra! Segretaria,
Viareggio |
 |
Tracy I've lived and worked
in Auckland, Prague, Scandanavia and London but am now happily
ensconced in Pietrasanta which I love for many reasons. One of its
chief attractions is the fact that I can easily reach Cinque Terre
and powerwalk the entire track from Monterosso to Riomaggiore. For
me it's the perfect combination: exercise, sun and stunning scenery.
Teacher, New Zealand |

Silvia Sono nata a Viareggio,
ma ho studiato e lavorato in Francia prima di approdare alla British
School. Amo tutte le forme d'arte, i viaggi lontani e vicini (anche
quelli immaginari!). Vivo in Versilia dove, insieme al mio compagno,
curo un magnifico oliveto. Segretaria,
Viareggio |

Hannah During an eight-month
trip to Australia I met an Italian guy from Viareggio. I came to
Italy in 2004 to visit him for a week. Seven years later I'm still
here and I haven't a clue where the return ticket ended up! Italy
has given me many wonderful things including one of the best jobs on
the planet! Oh, and the food's not bad either ... Teacher,

Marta Faccio parte dello
Segretaria

I'm Carolyn and I'm from Newcastle in the UK. I come from "up north",
but fell in love with Italy, the Italian language and one particular

but I'm still as passionate about sharing my bilingual / bicultural
world as I ever was. Teacher, Newcastle, England |
